The Healing Journey Meets The Spiritual Journey:
How Illness Can Be a Vehicle for Awakening
with Dr. Paul Epstein

This workshop will be an exploration of how the teachings of the Buddha and mindfulness meditation practice can be integrated and applied in the process of healing the diseases of our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits. How we relate to our pain and symptoms is as important as what we do to treat it. We will sit with and live the questions: What is healing and how does it happen? How can we welcome and open to our pain and illness as an opportunity and vehicle for awakening, cultivating healing qualities of unconditional presence? How can we be with our health challenges in a way that is wise, compassionate and healing? How and where do the healing and spiritual journeys meet and how can they enhance and support one another?

Dr. Epstein is a Naturopathic Physician and Buddhist Meditation Teacher. He is a 1984 graduate of NCNM where he did a residency in holistic medicine. He Co-founded and Co-directed the Israel Center for Mind-Body Medicine. Paul is also a certified yoga instructor, and has studied and practiced mindfulness meditation and clinical guided imagery and their clinical application and integration in health care for over 20 years.
