Course Details

This course is a comprehensive training in mind-body skills, providing an understanding of the science and principles of mind-body healing and the art of teaching practical healing techniques. Participants will learn how to integrate mind-body healing knowledge and practice into their personal and/or professional life for the healing of self and others.

Teaching techniques during the course will include guided inquiry and silent reflection, silent meditation practice, lecture and discussion, case histories, and experiential exercises. There will be the opportunity to work with Dr. Paul Epstein one-on-one and in groups.

Participants will learn how to effectively use and integrate mind-body perspectives, skills, therapies and techniques of guided imagery, relaxation, breathing, yoga therapy, self-awareness, mindfulness meditation, cognitive restructuring, group support and whole person psychotherapies to facilitate the healing process.

Curriculum

  • When biology becomes biography.
  • Illness and pain as opportunity (for self-growth and personal development)
  • How to listen within to the meaning and message of illness and pain.
  • Diagnosis, identity and non-attachment based on the premise that “you are not your disease”.
  • Grief and forgiveness for those dealing with bereavement and terminal illness.
  • Stress and lifestyle management.
  • What healing is and how it happens.

Presenters

Dr. Paul Epstein

Dr. Paul Epstein is a naturopathic physician, mind-body therapist, and a meditation and yoga teacher. He specializes in the therapeutic application of mindfulness meditation which he integrates in his teachings with mind-body therapies and psychotherapy. Dr. Paul Epstein’s training includes intensive studies in yoga, Buddhist meditation, stress reduction and clinical guided imagery. He is a regular contributor to health magazines in the USA, including the magazine Health and Spirituality.

Shambudas Chaitanya

Shambudas Chaitanya is a long-time staff member of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Center and currently a full-time staff member of the Sivananda Ashram Yoga Retreat. He is an experienced yoga teacher and a much-loved teacher of yogic techinques for healing the body and mind.

    I’m interested in your course for professionals, in integrating mind-body medicine and taking my patients beyond physical healing. This is what is truly inspiring in this field. I’m am looking for more understanding of humanity, conciousness and healing. There are a myriad of techniques and courses out there which….confuses me as to ..my appropriate path to achieve this.
