Hi Paul!
I'm so glad I made it to your keynote address this morning at the ASGPP (American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama)! Everything you said resonated with me and all that I do - in passion and purpose.
I love your approach, your journey and your integration of mind and body (intellect and emobodyment) in your presentation style. I appreciated your 'heady'/academic self (multiple quotes from multiple disciplines) present with your spiritual/heart-felt/passionate self....
As you know, its HARD to find intelligent, integrated, grounded, spiritual holistic healers - and when you find one - you dont want to just let them go...I am an eternal student and would love to learn from you whenever possible.
Blessings and Thank you,
Ricki Grater LCSW, ADTR

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for speaking yesterday at the WIN breakfast in Reno. Your talk was very nourishing for me, and made me pause to get in touch with the "still small voice" inside. I even went home and said to my wife, "You need a good listening to!" and that led to a re-connection that we've been needing for a long time. Thank you so much for being yourself and teaching others it's OK to do the same.
Sincerely,
President & Executive Creative Director

Dear Paul,
I wanted to thank you for your engaging and inspiring presentation at the May 25, WIN Breakfast Meeting. As you know, we have 11 breakfast meetings per year, and as such see our fair share of speakers. The content of your presentation, as well as the sincerity with which it was delivered, really set you apart from other keynotes. We received overwhelmingly positive feedback from our guests, including the statement, “Epstein was an exceptional speaker with an inspirational topic.” I couldn’t put it better myself. Best of luck to you in the future,
James James Cavanaugh, Executive Director WIN
"Dr. Epstein has the unique ability to enable his patients to see their situation's with "new eyes". His skillful investigation along with his tremendous openness of heart allowed me to finally open my own heart to include even the very illness which I had been fighting so hard to "get rid of". Ironically, it was through this deep acceptance that real healing finally began - spiritually, emotionally & physically.
Dr. Epstein is an expert guide to awakening the healer that lies within each of us; many people talk about this, Dr. Epstein lives it.

I spent decades denying and avoiding the pain of an unsatisfying, unexamined and unlived life.
Finally, the physical pain of rheumatoid arthritis and a lucky coincidence got me to a talk on mind-body healing by Dr. Paul Epstein. I sensed that he was pointing the way to the most profound kind of healing of the body, mind and heart so I started to see him weekly. I vividly remember our first session. Suddenly I was revealing to him my oldest stories and deepest wounds, which I had never shared with another person. The heavy locked door of the darkened "house" of my psyche opened a crack as I began the long process of letting my pain in. I went through a long period of judging the pain and resisting it and struggling with it. (Sometimes, of course, it feels like I'm still doing that.) Then I began to recognize and accept the pain, and a huge sigh of relief to body and soul reverberated throughout the "house". Now there are even times when I can see "my" pain as just pain, more universal and not so tied up with my own identity.
Often now I can use pain as a hard-earned and invaluable tool that can open the door to further acceptance and healing. It can be a thermostat to indicate my internal weather. It can be a compass for my journey. For example: My buttons just got pushed. Ouch! What does that tell me? I can use wise discernment and inquiry to learn where this painful reaction comes from. Another example: Right now I feel stuck in an "if only" thought pattern (insisting that something in my life shouldn't be the way it is), and because I am willing to face the aversion and pain of that, I can feel the suffering that comes from this hanging on ‹ the rope burns that come from not letting go. And another example: Dr. Epstein suggests a place where I may be deluding myself, something I haven't realized but I know is true because I instantly feel that edgy twinge of recognition and I know he has hit a sore spot, but a true spot. A therapeutic bull's eye. And I'm glad. I know another window has been thrown open to help air out my musty "house".
Perhaps physical, psychological and spiritual transformation for me is just a very long process of cleaning house. No great epiphanies or blissed-out states of enlightenment, just the joy of the lightening. I am simply a traveler who must be on this journey of healing as surely as I must breathe. Freedom has many faces.

Meditations through which you have guided me have given me a path to greater understanding and peace and compassion. I use your teachings every day, and see myself shedding thoughts and behaviors that have inhibited me all my life. You are a great teacher, Paul, and a kind and generous friend. I am very grateful and honored to know you.
Thank you.
Patricia
I experienced a shift in my attitude and perspective, which helped me to see my life and health issues with 'new eyes'. This has supported me to deepen my commitment and to stick, with conviction, to my healing path.

Dear Paul
We have been without phones or internet connection for the last few days! And it is so lovely now we are online again to pick up emails from you. We felt quite a gap here when you left!
Your being at the Yoga Retreat, all that you gave and shared whilst here was so special for me personally, and I know for sure was very special for Dee, Uma and for other staff. Your presence here really made a difference to the quality of ashram life..the heart-energy that flowered through your workshop brought a softness, a joy, an overflowing energy amongst us all.
Thank you for your very kind and generous words in your letter to Swami Swaroopananda. It really was effortless, a complete gift for me to be able to do what little I did for you, Peter and Aneeta.
So Paul, on 18th December I fly back to England. Then maybe some little time in India - there is a course I am interested in at a place called "Golden City". Check www.onenessmovement.org Maybe you would also enjoy the 21-day process there! I am going to try to copy a DVD I have of the process and will mail it to you.
In the meantime, I send you much love. We miss you being around here,
blessings, blessings, blessings from all of us,
Shama

Paul Epstein has been a dear friend and colleague for over 30 years. His commitment and exploration of mind-body connection has been unerring. Through natural medicine, meditation, and yoga he has mastered the art of mindfulness awareness.... and helping YOU get to the core of YOU! Through our work with guided imagery, he has supported me on my healing journey personally as well as having impacted my work of dance ritual and healing. Dr Epstein is a gifted teacher on the leading edge of thought. As healers and researchers seeing life as unlimited possibilities and creating with thought...I believe his mind-body integrative work is the next logical step.

To Whom It May Concern:
Dr. Paul Epstein has shared with me his intention of seeking a position teaching mind-body medicine. In my view, he is an ideal candidate.
I have been a practicing psychotherapist for over 30 years. For the past decade, I have been associated with Dr. Epstein. He has consulted with me on the counseling aspects of his practice: he has been my mentor in relation to the mind-body connection and the true nature of healing.
He is an extraordinary teacher.
His particular gifts are his practical understanding of the interdependence of mind and body, and his ability to help the individual patient find his or her personal key to integrate the various modalities and aspects of the healing journey.
I am an expert in my field of psychotherapy. Psychotherapy is the paradigm through which I perceive and work with my patients. The role of the body in emotional issues was never part of my training. In spite of what Dr. Epstein has helped me to understand, a patient's physical condition remains at best a subordinate concern, something beyond my range of competence.
Like most people in our culture, particularly those with scientific training, my thinking is caught in the Cartesian dichotomy between mind and body. Even those colleagues who are expert on both sides of that dichotomy are frequently unable to integrate the two. Without that integration, mind-body medicine is not being practiced.
Integrating mind and body in the healing process is Dr. Epstein's special skill, and it is one that he is uniquely qualified to teach. I recommend him highly.
Sincerely yours,
David A. Norris, PhD
