NY Insight Meditation Center - The Healing Journey Meets the Spiritual Path

Share

I am pleased to be returning to New York Insight Meditation Center to present a day-long workshop, "The Healing Journey Meets the Spiritual Path" on March 8, 2020.

This daylong program will be an exploration of how the teachings of the Buddha and mindfulness meditation and compassion practice can be integrated and applied in the process of healing the dis-eases of our bodies, minds, hearts, and spirits. We’ll bring a practical and contemplative approach exploring meaning and message through reflection and relationship. How we view and how we choose to relate to our pain, trauma, challenging life issues and symptoms is as important as what we do about them and what we do to treat them.

We will sit with and live the questions: What is healing and how does it happen? What is the difference between pain and suffering? How can we welcome and open to our pain and illness as an opportunity and vehicle for awakening and freedom from suffering?

We’ll practice skillful means and cultivating healing qualities of being, unconditional presence and self compassion? We will explore transformation and awakening through suffering. How can we be with our health challenges and painful truth in a way that is wise, compassionate and healing leading to liberation?

From a Buddhist perspective and the 4 Noble truths, in the suffering is the end of suffering. From a healing perspective, in the heart of the pain is the healing. How and where do the healing journey and spiritual path begin and where do they meet and how can they enhance and support one another along the way? You need not have an illness or be in pain to benefit from this day long…just be human!
