NY Insight Meditation Center - The Neuroscience of Mindfulness Meditation

I am pleased to be returning to New York Insight Meditation Center to present a day-long workshop, "The Neuroscience of Mindfulness Meditation" on February 16, 2019.

Neuroplasticity is defined as the brain’s ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections throughout life. Join us for this Daylong Program with Dr. Paul Epstein who will share recent scientific finding that prove that meditation and mindfulness can actually change the brain. Mindful awareness brings the choice of relating to experience with wisdom and compassion where practitioners train the mind and thus change the brain.

Evidence shows that mindfulness increases resilience which helps us to learn to “roll with the punches” and better cope with adversity so we can more easily bounce back from difficulty without lasting negative impacts. With understanding and applying neuroplasticity, one can “re-wire” and “hardwire” the brain leading to more peace, health and happiness in our daily lives. We can move beyond surviving life’s challenges to actively participating in our own deep healing while building resilience for a brighter future.

Through mindfulness and compassion practice and teachings, we will cultivate enhancing aspects of resilience. Among these aspects we will be working with difficult emotions, optimism, accepting change, and building a sense of humor. We’ll also explore neuroplasticity, how it happens, what it can result from along with its bright and dark sides. Through cultivating the practices presented in this Daylong program, we can learn to harness and integrate the power of mindfulness, resilience and neuroplasticity to train the mind and change the brain for greater well being. Join us to learn how you can change the brain – for peace, health and happiness.
